Work Smarter not Harder

Ben Roberts

Charles Darwin, the author of one of the World’s most influential books, The Origin of Species, would work for approximately 15 hours a week with his days split between walks, readings letters, spending time with his wife Emma and writing.

Mark Twain was another, who would only write on average 4 hours a day.

Whilst those employed by companies can’t adopt such free time to produce, the lesson to learn here is when you work, work with extreme focus and productivity.

Don’t just idle away and be busy for the sake of being busy.

It shouldn’t be regarded as a status symbol the number of hours you put in.

So as you start your week this week, think how you can be more effective with laser focus and suddenly you may have more time on your hands.

After all time is the most precious commodity we have.
