Time to say Goodbye

Ben Roberts

Every story has an ending and unlike the fairytales we heard when we were children, not all end happily.

The desire for change is natural and so is progress.

In our careers there is a strong chance we will be offered another opportunity elsewhere which we will accept.

Once you have resigned, you may be put on gardening leave or asked work out your notice. If it is the latter, there is nothing more pleasurable and applaudable than seeing someone fulfil their duties with the same gusto they were hired for in the first case.

Don’t be a cynic, be supportive, prepare your team for your exit, give a strong handover.

A good leaver is remembered as is a bad one.

You never know when paths can cross again and there is much more to gain to be remembered well than as someone who switched off and neglected their responsibility.

It’s never farewell until retirement, just goodbye for now
