It’s the weekend which means two days for leisure.
And there is one man we can thank for that. Mr Henry Ford.
Although during the industrial revolution there was a 6 day working week with Sundays off, Ford recognized that if he wanted to sell more cars, he needed his workers to enjoy them more as some of them were his biggest customers.
He decided to give them an 8 hr working day, 5 days a week. Productivity increased and the economy prospered due to people having more time to spend and enjoy their leisure time.
By 1938, the US Federal Government officially recognized this and legislated the 5 day working week.
So as the weekend rolls by, give a little thanks to the pioneer Mr Henry Ford.
