The Pulitzer Prize

Ben Roberts

The Pulitzer Prize. It was on this day, June 4th 1917 that it was originally launched and awarded. The inaugural winners and first Pulitzer Prizes were awarded to Laura E. Richards, Maude H Elliot, Florence Hall, Jean Jules Jusserand and Herbert B. Swope. Great to see diversity was recognised even then.

In this time of 'fake news' it is more important than ever that this award stands for the very best in journalism, whether in newspaper, magazine and online journalism, literature, and musical composition. We need the great writers of America to tell us the truth and their work to be recognised.

There is so much information out there, the best and the strongest should stand out and be read and recognised.

Who's your favourite Pulitzer Prize winner and why?
