The Cinderella Syndrome.

Ben Roberts

The disruption economy began when Uber became a transport company owning no vehicles then airbnb became a rental home company owning no property and now things are changing in the luxury goods market.

If you ever fancied hitting the town in the latest Dior number or with extremely expensive accessories you can’t afford, the fantasy has become a reality. The world’s fashion capital Paris, has a website called Instant Luxe which allows just that. Already selling second hand clothes to its one million members, it is now responding to the demand of people wanting to use than own a product.

A new pattern of consumption which allows fashionistas of all classes to rent items from luxury brands.

Not just a change in consumer behaviour but a societal one where the appearance of owning luxury is better than the reality.

So the Cinderella effect means even if the clock does strike midnight and people turn into pumpkins at least they had the chance to have glamour and luxury before the clock struck.
