Our Many Personas

Ben Roberts

Fake news or the adoption of different online personas.

Once we were perhaps more guarded in our professional lives than we are in our personal lives. With the ever increasing different forms of social media, we can have a multitude of personalities pending on the platform we use.

On Linkedin, we are professional, & discuss business & opinions on the working world.

With friends on Facebook, we are more open and sharing our sense of humour with comments and status updates. Perhaps the most truthful of all the social websites on the insights of our personality.

Instagram, it’s all about showing off our glamourous lives with the quick photo hit like an espresso, wanting to create pangs of jealously for those stuck at their desks.

Snapchat it can be humour with the filters or sometimes just plain odd! At least they disappear so aren't etched in our memory forever. Being able to disguise ourselves behind a screen and app is an interesting phenomenon & reality can be distorted. Perhaps that’s what help liberates us all, the ability to turn it on & off pending on how you want to be perceived.

We can all be chameleons if we desired, although like the X-Files, the truth is out there.
