Keeping it Simple

Ben Roberts

These sandals were made for running.

Most of us when we go for a run these days, have some nice running shoes, probably a smartphone to track ourselves and some thin running gear and maybe even wearable tech.

Not the Raramuri of Mexico’s Copper Canyon, these elite long distance runners have kept tradition alive for centuries by running in leather sandals.

Long distance running as always been part of their tradition along with their language and religion. Endurance actually helped them protect themselves in the 17th century from European invaders by retreating into the winding paths of Copper Canyon.

So goes to show that sometimes sticking to the basics isn’t so bad after all at and the need to over complicate things doesn’t always give any added value.

Keeping it simple can be an effective tool.

Surprise with the obvious.
