First Impressions

Ben Roberts

First impressions and the important of body language.

Studies show that first impressions are made very quickly. I

t's crucial that if you are looking for a new job that you make the effort to present your best self.

Be engaged and make sure your physical behaviour mirrors your mindset.

One would hope you have prepared properly, with questions to ask and you are contributing. Eye contact and laser focus on your interviewer helps a great deal, as does your interest in the company you hope to join.

Don't be closed and sit with your arms folded and be defensive.

Be creative and use stories of your career and the successes you have had to leave a lasting mark.

The way you present yourself and the questions you ask is a great indication of how you will fit in to the company culture. Interviews should not just be a one way conversation.

And don't forget to smile and be polite, it goes a long way.
