Dealing with the unexpected

Ben Roberts

When plans go wrong.

'Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth' Mike Tyson famously said the former Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the world.

And he's right, we all should all have a plan.

What he illustrates here though is plans can quickly go awry or astray and suddenly we are faced with the unexpected.

This happens both in our professional and personal lives.

Learning to manage that is key.

You can only be prepared for different scenarios to happen if you understand your temperament and how you react to pressure.

Take time each week to learn to deal with pressure in your own way, calmness and being levelheaded helps massively in being able to deal with the unexpected.

Figure out how you best can manage that, because if your plan does get a punch in the mouth, you want to be able to steer it back in the direction you need as smartly, quickly and as astutely as possible.

How have you dealt with the unexpected?
